Science teachers are generally high school teachers who specialize in one or more science topics, such as biology, chemistry or physics. They teach students in upper grades, usually ninth grade or higher. Science teachers may be employed full-time by a school and teach different classes throughout the day, or they may work part-time or as a substitute. When not working directly with students, science teachers create lesson plans, grade and review assignments, and meet with other staff and parents. They may also pursue further education to expand their teaching ability as it relates to new content or technology.
