Political Analysts use their vast political and current events knowledge to research and analyze political situations and topics. This can include political systems, policies, trends, foreign relations and governments. They not only look at things that have already happened, but they also forecast what might happen next. Policymakers often use this information to help make informed decisions and shape the policies they create. The data that a Political Analyst uses comes from a variety of sources, including surveys, studies and census data. To share analyses, a Political Analyst might publish papers, write reports or give presentations. This job often involves travel, sometimes to foreign companies, to learn about political and social events as they unfold.
