The overall goal of an Armed Security Officer is to keep the peace and keep places and people secure. To do this, they’re trained and licensed to safely use certain weapons, which could include firearms, tasers, batons and pepper spray. Working environments vary, including retail establishments, events, office buildings and other businesses. The risks vary depending on the location and the common threats for that place. Armed Security Officers spend most of their time patrolling an area or securing entrances. Their presence can help keep people under control and encourage them to follow the rules. If someone disturbs the peace in any way, the Armed Security Guard springs into action. They typically use a variety of de-escalation techniques to get the situation under control, but they might need to use their weapons in some situations.
An Armed Security Officer, or Armed Guard, protects people or facilities with weapons if needed. Their duties include patrolling a designated area, responding to incidents and using a weapon when necessary.
