Diversity Managers serve as leaders in developing a diverse, inclusive work environment. Their purpose is to move the corporate culture toward one that embraces and promotes diversity. In some companies, they’re the top diversity-focused employee, with others under their direction. Larger companies sometimes also have a Chief Diversity Officer above the Manager. A large portion of the Diversity Manager’s work relates to human resources activities, particularly diverse recruiting, hiring and employee retention. They work with key personnel, such as hiring managers and HR staff, to create an environment that invites and promotes diversity and inclusion. They’re also a diversity expert and resource for all other employees and departments.
