State Tested Nursing Assistants provide much-needed patient care and nurse and physician support. By taking care of lower-level tasks, like monitoring vitals and changing patient bedding, STNAs free up their supervising team to tackle tasks that require additional training and education, such as performing procedures and leading diagnostic testing.

A State Tested Nursing Assistant, or STNA, is a nursing assistant who takes care of patients under the watchful eye of a Registered Nurse. STNA job descriptions are found in Ohio (other states use the alternative job title Certified Nurse Assistant, or CNA), where the STNA’s primary duties include monitoring patients, assisting with hygeineand aiding doctors and nurses during medical procedures.
