They keep detailed records of warehouse operations, and they meet with other department staff within the company when necessary.

A Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a warehouse and monitoring the productivity of its staff. Warehouse Supervisors often work in busy environments where priorities can change at a moment’s notice, so an ability to multitask is and delegate is essential with this role.
Responsibilities
A Warehouse Supervisor should be able to fulfill various duties and responsibilities. The following are some duties and responsibilities a Warehouse Supervisor should be able to execute:
  • Overseeing receiving and dispatching procedures for shipments
  • Assigning workloads and daily tasks to Warehouse Associates
  • Communicating with customers to answer shipping and receiving questions and troubleshoot problems
  • Monitoring inventory and shipment transactions for accuracy
  • Ensuring inventory and storage areas are clean and maintained
  • Monitoring Warehouse Associates to ensure safety procedures are being followed when operating forklifts and other machinery
Required Skills
A competitive Warehouse Supervisor will have certain skills and qualifications, including:
  • Ability to delegate when assigning employee workloads
  • Problem-solving skills to handle customer complaints and production issues
  • Clear knowledge of warehouse operations
  • Leadership and organizational skills to run the warehouse efficiently
  • Proficiency in inventory and/or invoice software
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods when working on the warehouse floor
