Advertising Managers plan and execute advertising campaigns as part of an in-house marketing team or as part of an advertising firm that handles customer outreach for a range of clients. They closely coordinate with their team to help them stay organized and meet key company goals. Collaborating with key stakeholders, including department heads and the executive team, is a large part of the job. Advertising Managers interpret market research and use their analysis to lead brainstorming sessions and develop ideas for promotional campaigns. They delegate tasks to employees, give them feedback and provide them with the tools they need to improve company outreach in different areas.
An Advertising Manager, or Marketing Manager, is responsible for overseeing advertising projects, activities and channels used to reach customers. Their duties include setting goals and timelines for advertising campaigns, collecting data on customer reach and evaluating the success of advertising methods.

- Overseeing the design and content of an advertising campaign to ensure it meets the needs of the target audience

- Conducting or directing market research to help shape advertising campaigns
- Negotiating contracts related to advertising efforts
- Controlling the advertising budget to manage expenses and maximize the return on investment
- Managing and overseeing campaigns and analyzing results from each campaign to determine what was successful and what to improve for the next campaign
- Leading brainstorming sessions with team members to cultivate ideas for new advertising campaign concepts, including content and design elements
- Hiring and overseeing the advertising staff and managing freelancers who handle outsourced creative work
A competitive Advertising Manager will have certain skills and qualifications, including:
