They work with various departments to get the data they need related to the company’s performance. That data undergoes various calculations and statistical processes to uncover relationships between different variables. The Statistician puts the results into reports and presentations that are easier for people without a statistics background to understand. They present that information to the leadership team to help them make informed decisions about the company’s direction.

What does a Statistician do?

A Statistician, or Professional Statistician, uses numerical data to find patterns that can support an organization’s decision-making. Their duties include collecting relevant data, analyzing it and looking for patterns based on their analysis.

A Statistician should be able to fulfill various duties and responsibilities. The following are some duties and responsibilities a Statistician should be able to execute:

Collecting internal data from various departments
Consolidating numerical data into databases
Using statistical software to perform an analysis of the numbers
Applying various calculations and formulas to analyze and interpret the data
Ensuring the data and calculations are accurate
Interpreting the results to find trends and information that’s useful for corporate decision-making
