The role of a Quality Assurance Professional is to identify the cause of quality problems, document them and correct them. Quality Assurance Professionals are the first people to recognize defects, preventing sub-par products from reaching consumers that could result in costly returns or a damaged company reputation.
A Quality Assurance Professional, or Quality Control Professional, is in charge of inspecting products at different phases in their development to ensure they meet a set of consistent standards. Their duties include performing visual inspections, recording quality issues and planning processes to decrease the instance of defects in products.
A Quality Assurance should be able to fulfill various duties and responsibilities. The following are some duties and responsibilities a Quality Assurance should be able to execute:
- Documenting and reporting product or service quality levels
- Developing and implementing standards for inspection
- Developing a workflow for product inspection
- Developing plans to help a company manage waste
- Communicating with other team members to solve problems
- Following up with the appropriate channels when mistakes are found
A competitive Quality Assurance will have certain skills and qualifications, including:
- A keen eye for detail
- Communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Database management
- The ability to consistently identify mistakes across thousands of inspections
- The ability to closely follow quality standards
