Management Trainees work in a variety of industries, including food service, finance and sales. Management Trainees often rotate between several departments within a company, and they shadow Lead Managers and Supervisors. For example, individuals seeking Management Trainee careers in the food service industry may be responsible for creating employee schedules and overseeing dining room operations, while those working in the sales industry may attend sales meetings and post job descriptions to recruit new employees. Specific tasks of a Management Trainee can change from day to day, with the overall objective of gaining experience to move forward into upper management and work independently.
A Management Trainee, or Manager in Training, is an employee who works directly under acting managers, supervisors and executive directors in various industries. Their duties include delegating tasks to staff members, assisting with the onboarding process of new hires and providing administrative support.
A Management Trainee should be able to fulfill various duties and responsibilities. The following are some duties and responsibilities a Management Trainee should be able to execute:
- Completing assigned tasks by required deadlines
- Attending staff meetings and recording meeting minutes when applicable
- Overseeing employees and evaluating work
- Writing out daily reports
- Assisting management with the implementation of new policies
- Ensuring new employees are properly trained
