A Mall Security Guard works in all areas of a shopping mall. They might walk through the shops and common areas to discourage people from shoplifting or causing harm. Sometimes, they sit in a surveillance room and monitor shoppers’ activities through the surveillance cameras. If a security problem occurs, they respond to the location and maintain order, such as talking to the people involved, detaining suspects or removing offenders from the mall property. Some Mall Security Guards drive around parking lots to look for suspicious activity. When incidents happen, Security Guards write detailed reports about them.
A Mall Security Guard, or Retail Security Guard, provides security and patrol services throughout a shopping mall to protect shoppers, employees and assets. Their duties include patrolling the mall proactively to discourage poor behavior, responding to calls from shoppers or employees and handling disturbances in shops or common areas.
A Mall Security Guard should be able to fulfill various duties and responsibilities. The following are some duties and responsibilities a Mall Security Guard should be able to execute:
- Patrolling the mall for suspicious activities
- Responding to calls for help or security issues
- Detaining individuals who break laws or cause disturbances
- Escorting individuals off the premises for violating the mall’s rules

- Identifying potential weaknesses in mall security
