Mechanics typically work for auto repair shops or auto dealerships, but they may also operate their own service shop. They use their knowledge of car parts, diagnostic tools and repair procedures to isolate issues with motor vehicles, make repairs and run tests. Their job is to work closely with other Mechanics to complete repair jobs in a timely and efficient manner.
